IUDHR Condemns Disproportionate Action Against Journalist Rizwan Razi

The IUDHR UN Charter strongly condemns the disproportionate and selective action taken against senior journalist Rizwan Razi (Razi Dada).

It is a matter of record that prior to any proceedings of the Senate Standing Committee, Razi Sahib had issued an unconditional apology, sought forgiveness from Sindh’s leadership, and removed the disputed video from his platform. Despite these remedial steps, his YouTube channel has been targeted for a blanket ban — a move that appears excessive, punitive, and inconsistent with principles of justice.

Freedom of expression is a fundamental right under Pakistan’s Constitution and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. While hate speech must be addressed, laws must be applied uniformly and proportionately, without political bias or selective enforcement. The double standards in this case are glaring: many channels continue to broadcast divisive and abusive content without consequence, yet a single apology and corrective act by Rizwan Razi has not been honored.

IUDHR express full solidarity with Rizwan Razi and call upon authorities to review this unjust action. True democracy demands consistency, fairness, and equal treatment before the law, not selective justice that undermines freedom of the press and the unity of our federation.
